Hi. I’m Dane Carlson. I’m a writer, podcaster, economic developer, and entrepreneur in Houston, Texas.

I’m the CEO of Sitehunt.

I’m also the host and publisher of the Econ Dev Show, a podcast, weekday email newsletter, and blog featuring practical strategies, fresh news, and real-world insight from the economic development community.

Before Sitehunt, I spent years in economic development roles where “property data” lived in a messy mix of PDFs, spreadsheets, GIS links, and half-updated notes. And when an RFI landed, it was usually a last-minute scramble: track down details, confirm utilities and zoning, build a clean response, and hope nothing important got missed.

I started building Sitehunt in late 2023 because I wanted a better way: something faster than spreadsheets, simpler than heavyweight enterprise systems, and designed around the questions site selectors actually ask. Sitehunt is my attempt to make it easier for teams to stay ready, respond quickly, and present their community well.

Sitehunt was co-founded with my wife, Angie Carlson, who leads our GIS, data, and enrichment work.
